Woman Traded Her “Diet Dr. Pepper” Twitter Name for 41,000 Bottles of Water for Flint Michigan

There’s a 29-year-old woman in Dearborn, Michigan named Diana Hussein, who snagged the Twitter handle “DietDrPepper” back in 2009 before the company thought to do it.

She wasn’t trying to buy it out from under them or anything.  She was signing up for Twitter . . . had a Diet Dr. Pepper sitting on her desk . . . and that’s what she went with.

Then they got in touch with her back in January to see if they could buy it from her.  And some of her friends kept telling her to play hardball and make some money off of it.

But she recently found out they also own the bottled water company Deja Blue.  So instead of asking for money or a lifetime supply of soda . . . she got them to donate 41,000 bottles of water this month, to help with the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

She says she’d been following the Flint thing in the news . . . kept wishing she could do something to help . . . and decided that trading her Twitter name for water was the best possible thing she could do with it.
