The kid’s name is Trey Potter, and his mother is MelRo Potter.  Her story is kind of amazing.  She grew up in foster homes, because her mother was raped and got pregnant with her at age 13.  Then she got pregnant with Trey as a teenager, and had to drop out of school.  But she still brought up Trey by herself and ended up becoming an advocate for foster children!
