Things got pretty heated on Wednesday night in Congress.  They were voting on an amendment to give more protections to LGBT people, and it had enough votes to pass when time ran out.  But then a few Republicans changed their votes and killed it.  And the Democrats got loud about it.  (The Republican chair is supposed to bang the gavel when time runs out, to end the session.  But that didn’t happen this time . . . they basically kept the voting open just long enough to defeat the amendment by one vote.)
