On Wednesday Florida’s State Attorney announced they were dropping the charges citing lack of evidence of impairment.

Maloney released this statement to the media and wrote, in part:

“I am pleased that after a remarkably thorough investigation, the State has dismissed this case. To me, this was never a case of DUI. It was always a case about probable cause. I have devoted so very much of my career to DUI victim rights and and will absolutely continue on that mission. Hopefully the attention this case has received will promote dialogues about the dangers of drinking and driving as well as the Constitution. Our United States legal system is not perfect, but it is still the best in the world. That’s one of the reasons I became a lawyer to begin with”.
