Former “The Voice” Contestant Murdered

Former “The Voice” contestant Christina Grimmie was signing autographs late Friday night after her show at The Plaza Live theater in Orlando, Florida when a man walked up to her and opened fire.  Christina’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, tackled the gunman, avoiding anyone else being injured, however the gunman turned his weapon on himself and ended his own life as well.

Christina was rushed to the hospital where she later died of her wounds.

Investigators identified the shooter as Kevin James Loibl.  They were in the process of gathering information on him and his plan to injure Christina.  Officials said there is currently no evidence Grimmie and Loibl knew each other.

Loibl was not from Orlando, and drove to the venue to commit the crime.  Police are currently unsure how he got a gun into the venue.

Christinia Grimmie was discovered on YouTube, gathering more than 3 million fans.  She competed on season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice,” finishing third.

The hashtag #RIPChristina Grimmie is now trending on social media.
