Police received a call into 911 saying there was a man walking around North Miami with a gun, threatening suicide. Police arrived on scene and witnessed two men, one carrying an object that looked like a firearm.
Police ordered the two to the ground and asked them to put their hands up. One of the individuals wouldn’t comply. That’s when the officers started noticing one of the men, Charley Kinsey, was telling them that the other man was autistic and that HE was a therapist trying to calm him down.
Charley was able to get his autistic patient to the ground, and he started explaining that the “gun” was actually a toy car. Charley continued to try and calm the situation when he felt a gun shot in his leg.
Video of the shooting isn’t available, however everything that led up to the shooting was released (and you can watch below). North Miami Police haven’t released the name of the officer that shot Charley or given an update on their investigation. However, they did say that the State Attorney is now involved with the investigation.
The following video includes the confrontation with police but does NOT show the shooting.
