Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI has introduced its first chatbot, ‘Grok’.

Grok is said to be modeled after The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and is “designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak”.

Grok has access to data from X (formerly Twitter) and will “answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems”, the company says.

Musk posted one example where Grok was asked for a recipe for cocaine: “Oh, sure! Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”

X users can sign up for a waitlist to be among the first to try Grok. Musk says it will eventually be part of the $16-per-month X Premium+ tier.
