U.S. Moves To Break Up Biggest Music Company In Australia After Taylor Swift Fiasco

The US Justice Department is reportedly preparing to file an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation, accusing the entertainment conglomerate of using its market dominance to stifle competition and raise consumer prices.

The lawsuit is expected to focus on Live Nation’s control over concert promotion, ticket sales, and venue ownership.

One source claimed federal officials will file the case in New York federal court with dozens of state attorneys-general. The move will conclude a study that garnered public attention after Ticketmaster mismanaged Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour sales in 2022.

President Joe Biden pledged to pursue antitrust laws vigorously, and the Live Nation lawsuit was one of the most major competition cases.
