The Supreme Court has upheld the controversial U.S. ban on Tiktok, two days before it takes effect.
In an unsigned unanimous opinion, the Court said the ban did not violate the First Amendment and was justifiable due to “national security concerns” over TikTok’s data collection practices and relationship to China.
The ban is set to take effect on Sunday. The TikTok app will no longer be available in app stores, but might still be usable by users who already have it installed on their phones.
The ban’s future is still uncertain–President-elect Trump, who takes office on Monday, says he will make the final decision on whether to uphold the ban or reverse it.
