Chappell Roan, a rising star in the music industry, has compared fame to a toxic relationship in a recent interview with “The Face.”
The 26-year-old singer expressed the challenges of dealing with the attention she receives, likening it to the behavior of an abusive ex-husband.
Roan shared how Lorde provided support and advice after a difficult encounter with a fan at the airport. She has also received support from other female musicians like Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, and Katy Perry and connected with Sabrina Carpenter about coping with her newfound fame.
Roan has been vocal about setting boundaries with fans and addressing predatory behavior in social media posts and public events like the VMAs, where she won Best New Artist.
“The vibe of this – stalking, talking s–t online, [people who] won’t leave you alone, yelling at you in public – is the vibe of an abusive ex-husband. That’s what it feels like. I didn’t know it would feel this bad,” said Roan.
