Guy Died During a Race Where You Run Five Miles and Eat a Dozen Krispy Kremes

The people who dreamed up this race HAD to know it would kill someone one day . . . right?

The 12th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge happened on Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina.  It’s a race where you have to run two-and-a-half miles, eat a dozen donuts, then run another two-and-a-half miles in under an hour . . . without vomiting.

A 58-year-old guy was running the race and started having chest pains about a mile in.  He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced DEAD.

His exact cause of death wasn’t released, but we know he died BEFORE he ate the donuts, so we can blame it on the running and not the eating. The Krispy Kreme Challenge is run by a student group at North Carolina State University to benefit the North Carolina Children’s Hospital.  It is NOT affiliated with Krispy Kreme.
