#WAYTOGOWEDNESDAY – G.A.B.S.

A 10th grade girl at Citronelle High School says she wants boys to stop sagging and pull their pants up.

So she started a movement. It’s called “Girls Against Boys Sagging” or GABS.

It’s a trend that’s been around for years, one 15-year-old Morgan McCane says she got tired of seeing.

“Seeing a bunch of boys sagging at school and in public. I just was so disgusted by it that i wished that somebody or something would make them change,” she said.

Morgan’s dad says one day at the mall her mom challenged her to do something about it.

“My wife actually challenged her and said why don’t you start a movement,” her dad Howard McCane said.

Morgan and her sister took on the challenge and started the movement “Girls Against Boys Sagging.”

“The T-shirts do kind of put it out there and make boys say ‘oh look they’re with this movement so maybe we shouldn’t do all that,'” Morgan said.

The T-shirts help promote the message, “If you go ahead and start making some good choices about how you carry yourself,” her dad said. “Then maybe as you go forward you won’t project such a negative connotation to people.”

But instead of talking to boys directly Morgan targets girls.

“I feel like women can change men’s minds most,” Morgan said.

It’s a movement her dad says he’s excited about.

“I’m really so pleased as a father to be able to have a daughter who really wants to step up and make some type of movement to try to change something,” Mr. McCane said.
